Product Details
Little Millet - called Saamai in Tamil, Sama in Hindi, and Kutki in some parts of central India - is one of the oldest cultivated millets in the subcontinent. Long grown on rainfed, dryland farms with almost no inputs, it is a crop that has fed communities through lean seasons for generations. Despite its small size, Saamai is rich in iron, B-complex vitamins, and dietary fibre. It is one of the most easily digestible millets, making it especially well suited for children, the elderly, and anyone with a sensitive digestive system. It carries a mild, slightly sweet flavour - far more neutral than ragi - which makes it versatile across preparations. Our Little Millet Flakes are made from whole, unpolished grain sourced from farmers who grow it traditionally without synthetic fertilisers or pesticides. The grain is cleaned, gently steamed, and stone-rolled into thin flakes - keeping the bran layer and its nutrients intact. They cook in minutes and work beautifully as a warm porridge with coconut milk and jaggery, a light upma with curry leaves and mustard, or simply soaked overnight and eaten with curd and fruit.
