Botanical name : Tithonia diversifolia. Ideal for quick biomass additional, Mexican sunflower grows well via cuttings. It needs moderate water to grow. The cuttings should not be flood irrigated in the first few weeks till it gets established, because they are susceptible to rot. Raised beds are best for growing these. A couple of nodes above the soil and couple of them under the soil are ideal for planting the cuttings. It grows well in both sprinkler and drip irrigation. It is invasive if the foliage is not chopped up fine for mulching. But it is easy to control because uprooting is easy. Nevertheless, it is great for adding in a compost pile containing animal dung. The foliage is easy to chop and drop with even hand. If not by hand, even a blunt tool will be sufficient.
